130th (St John) Field Ambulance WW1 Commemorative Event WW1 Service Research

130th (ST JOHN) FIELD AMBULANCE The 130th (St John) Field Ambulance was an unique Royal Army Medical Corps unit in World War 1. The body of the men were all St. John Ambulance trained men working predominantly in the South Wales coalfields. It was the only WW1 unit allowed to use the St John name and to wear St John insignia on the uniform and the St John belt buckle. My work, as part of the 130th (St John) Field Ambulance Research Group, has involved tracing relatives of over 100 families of the men and officers to discover photographs and diaries or journals and also scouring the internet, newspapers and publications for any relevant information.
